Digital Media Arts is ONE Department | SIX Disciplines!
Unleash your creativity and take your professional development a step further by taking classes in the Digital Media Arts Department! We are recognized for comprehensive curricula, outstanding facilities, and awesome faculty & staff that prepare students for life-long careers in dynamic, digital media art forms and technologies found in industry. Six occupational-education disciplines within DMA offer certificate & degree programs in 3D Animation, Audio Technology, Graphic Design, Photography, Video, and Web Development.

Our state-of-the-art facilities feature numerous computer labs with the latest and greatest hardware & software available. Students have access to a wide range of advanced technologies.

ANI3D Animation students are deeply engaged with everything from textures to wire grids, and from character development to cutting-edge, immersive virtual reality productions.

AUDNEW! Starting fall 2019, Audio Technology joins DMA and supports students with studio recording facilities and digital post-production lab space with software certification in ProTools and Reason.

GDTGraphic Design serves students with a robust Production & Output Center supports wide-format color printers, color laser printers and peripherals for students to generate and develop projects.

PHOPhotography students work in facilities that compete with any school of its kind in the world. Digital labs, deeply equipped 6-bay photo studio, and thriving 21-workstation darkroom for B&W silver-based & alternative process prints.

VIDVideo Production features digital editing suites, a cavernous, green-screen studio, and a very handsomely outfitted equipment cage that gives students the edge to produce award winning motion picture projects.

WEBWeb Design & Development students enjoy some of the strongest opportunities to find gainful employment and smart management of back-end internet system operations. Now featuring Mac and PC-based labs.

Photo & Video students check equipment out free of charge to complete assignments that includes a wide range of DSLR, medium & large format cameras, and location-lighting gear.

All of this technology is managed by dedicated support staff in each discipline, in addition to full-time IT/Mac Technicians that oversee day-to-day operations and long-term computer hardware & software maintenance. The DMA local area network is yet another significant part of student workflow and success. We are one of Washtenaw County’s best kept secrets in great education. Join us!

Transfer to Four-Year Colleges and Universities
Articulation programs enable students to transfer to colleges and universities such as the College for Creative Studies, Savannah College of Art and Design, and Eastern Michigan University.

Created while on sabbatical by Digital Media Arts Professional Web Design & Development Faculty, Jason Withrow, Onward helps employers directly connect with Washtenaw Community College students for jobs, internships, and freelance projects. Students must acquire faculty endorsements for all their required job skills before they can see employer contact information, to ensure the integrity of qualified applicants. Additionally, Professional Advisory Committees in each Digital Media Arts discipline assist in maintaining each program’s relevance in curriculum design, program-level outcomes, and keeping pace with current trends in technology to ensure that our graduates have the marketable skills to find success in the job market.

  • Students must begin film processing 90 minutes before closing time
