Washtenaw Community College Mechanical Systems

Washtenaw Community College, Facilities Management division has purchased eight new Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s) and upgraded the Seimens Energy Management System.

VFD’s use computer algorithmic software to optimize the chilled water and condenser water pumps, which are key elements in providing comfortable campus temperatures.

This implementation will help reduce energy consumption and cost during our cooling season from May 1 to November 15. The VFD units are set to be operational by May 1, 2013.
